Tourette Syndrome

About Tourette Syndrome

tourette01 (10K)
This condition occurs in childhood in which involuntary movements of the limbs, head, face, trunk occur, along with involuntary sounds or vocal tics.

This condition is often associated with increased internal tension to perform these involuntary movements and relief upon doing so. Additionally, anxiety and attention problems are common causes of disability resulting from obsessive compulsive disorder and attention deficit disorder.

How can Dr. Kohn help you?

Dr. Robert Kohn uses a Biological-Psychological-Social framework to assess your symptoms because he knows that the proper diagnosis leads to proper treatment. Using a variety of evaluation forms and Assessment Tools, Dr. Kohn gathers the information vital to a successful outcome. With the information, he chooses the appropriate Treatment and devises an individual treatment plan designed to help you feel better and be better able to function in the world. Dr. Kohn treats the patient as a whole, rather than just treating the symptoms.

Tools selected depend on the presenting symptoms:
Quotient Test and IVA are used to evaluate attention
QEEG Test is used to evaluate treatment options with Neurofeedack Therapy.

Age of patient is considered. If the patient is an older teen or adult the NEO 5 test evaluates core personality features.

Evaluation forms for ADHD/ADD and Anxiety are usually included to evaluate considerations of co-morbid conditions. You will find these evaluation forms in the upper right corner of this page.
